The sun once again shone down on over 40 Farnham Ramblers for their autumn walking holiday. We were based in the Craiglands, Ilkley's last surving Victorian spa hotel still in use as a hotel. From here, we could explore Wharfedale, and walked from well-known beauty spots such as Grassington, Bolton Abbey and, of course, Ilkley Moor. We ventured beyond Wharfedale to the spectacular Malham Cove, where we learned to step on the clints and avoid falling down the grikes. There were three walks a day to select from and everyone had a great time. On the last night the hotel had a disco, giving the ever-youthful ramblers their opportunity to show their disco-dancing skills.
Many thanks to Liz Witham for organising the holiday, assisted by Tim Devis.
