Unfortunately, the final task was cancelled. The land owner who owns the major part of land which Footpath 65 Elstead runs has refused permission to have her stiles replaced by kissing gates. This work was an integral part of our task which included new sleeper board walk and bridge. There is a chance in the future we may be able to replace the stile nearest Elstead Mill on Footpath 65 as that is in a separate ownership, however that land owner has been away for some while and Alan at Surrey Countryside will not be able to talk to him till he returns.
However despite this setback we have had a great 2015 season with seven large tasks and five small team winter tasks as you will read in our Farnham Ramblers newsletter. John will be working to put more tasks together for 2016 and already a large task at Pirbright nearly planned out for March and a number of small team tasks for January and February. He will be having a meeting with Surrey Countryside in early February to agree all large tasks for 2016.
